All Day Absence

Absences should be called in on the morning of the first day or within 48 hours of the absence. A parent must call the All Day Absence line at (760) 787-4017 for English or 760-787-4019 for Spanish and leave a message with the following info:

• name of the student

• date of the absence

• reason for absence *(note: if a reason is not given or if the reason given is "Personal Reason" that is an Unexcused Absence-Parent Approved.)

• name of the person calling

• telephone number in the event there are questions.

Students Arriving Late/Excusing a Tardy

Arriving Late: All students who arrive late to school (over 30 min. from the first bell) must check in at Attendance window for a tardy pass to class.

Excusing a Tardy: Parents can excuse a morning tardy by sending in a signed note or calling (760) 787-4016. We will also excuse a tardy with a Doctor’s note. Students need to stop at the Attendance window for the excused tardy pass to class.

Marked Absent in Error

This can be corrected by coming to Attendance and getting a pink Teacher Correction form - this will have the info of the date of absence and the period. Take this to the teacher that marked you absent and have them sign off that it was an error. Return the form to Attendance with teacher's signature and we will correct it. You can also email your teacher or talk to them and they may email us with the correction.

If you went to the wrong ELT class and got marked absent. Please pick up a pink Teacher Correction form from attendance. You will need to have the teacher you were with sign it and we will correct it.

Independent Study Contract

The front office needs to be notified 1 WEEK prior to your student being out on an Independent Study. A Contract will need to be:

1-signed by the parent and student

2- approved by admin

3- teachers notified, all BEFORE your students last day on campus, before the contract date.

Following the student's return, they have 10 school days to submit all work.

While your student is out on Independent Study, please have them complete their school work and contact their teachers directly by email with any questions.

**If your student will not be able to access Canvas while away, they will need to speak with each teacher, before leaving, to arrange for paperwork.

Partial Day Absence/Off Campus Pass

If you need a pass off campus for a partial day absence, the preferred method is to send a parent signed note. Please include:

- the date

- student’s name

- the time they need to leave campus

- the reason they are leaving

- parent/guardian signature.

(No Off Campus Passes will be issued in the last 30 min. of the school day.) Cut Off Time is 2:50 p.m.

If you forget to send a note you can call (760) 787-4016 to request a pass. Please allow ample time to pull your student from class. Students who leave campus without a pass will be marked truant.

Lunchtime Off Campus Policy

The policy at Ramona High School is that only Seniors have off campus privileges during lunch time (with a signed waiver). All other students will need a parent/guardian present in the office to sign the student out at the attendance desk in the office if they are leaving during Lunch.
